The Weeknd‘s HBO series ‘The Idol’ is set to undergo some major changes.

More details below…

Per Variety, the show has decided to go in a “new creative direction.” A statement released to the publication from HBO said:

“‘The Idol’s creative team continues to build, refine, and evolve their vision for the show and they have aligned on a new creative direction.”

“The production will be adjusting its cast and crew accordingly to best serve this new approach to the series. We look forward to sharing more information soon.”

It has not been made clear or not if the new changes could result in members of both the cast and the crew leaving production. Additionally, a release date for the series has not been given.

Previously, ‘The Idol’ was first announced last June when it was reported that the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer would serve as co-writer and executive producer, alongside ‘Euphoria’s Sam Levinson. The Weeknd was also said to be starring in the show. Currently, there are six episodes in the works.
